Egypt at the 18th Annual Bridges to the World International Film Festival
The Egyptian Cultural & Educational Bureau in Washington, D.C. is proud to participate in the 18th Annual Bridges to the World International Film Festival, presented by World Artists Experiences, with the virtual screening of one of Egypt’s most powerful and acclaimed films: "Kira (Keera) & El Gin (2022)"
Directed by Marwan Hamed and based on Ahmed Mourad’s novel 1919, Kira & El Gin is an epic, award-winning historical drama that brings to life Egypt’s resistance to British occupation in the early 20th century. Blending sweeping national history with deeply human stories of courage, friendship, sacrifice, and patriotism, the film stands as the highest-grossing production in the history of Egyptian cinema.

The Egyptian Cultural & Educational Bureau in Washington, D.C. was pleased to attend the Embassy Breakfast hosted by Events DC on Wednesday, January 28, bringing together embassies and international partners to reflect on achievements and look ahead to future collaboration.

The discussion highlighted the 2025 milestones, including Egypt’s successful participation in Passport DC and the Embassy Chef Challenge, both of which showcased Egypt’s rich culture, heritage, and culinary traditions to thousands of visitors across the District.

We were also delighted to engage in conversations around plans for 2026, with Egypt set to participate once again in Passport DC on May 2, 2026. We look forward to building on past successes and continuing our collaboration with Events DC to present vibrant and authentic Egyptian cultural experiences to the Washington, D.C. community.

Our sincere thanks to Events DC for the invitation and for their continued partnership in celebrating global cultures and strengthening cultural diplomacy in the nation’s capital.
