Egyptian Cultural and Educational Bureau - Washington DC

On May 3rd, the Egyptian Cultural and Educational Bureau transformed its home in Washington, D.C. into a vibrant celebration of the Embassy of Egypt as part of ِPassport DC – Around the World Embassy Tour 2025. Thousands of visitors lined up throughout the day to step into the magical world of Egypt.

The event began at 9:30 AM as guests entered the bureau's backyard to enjoy The Taste of Egypt — a rich spread featuring Koshary, Foul, Falafel, Stuffed Vine Leaves, Bread, Kahk, Baklava, and Kunafa, accompanied by refreshing Hibiscus and Turmeric drinks.

Guests were immersed in Egyptian traditions through Henna art, writing their names in Hieroglyphics and Arabic, and enjoying activities at the Kids Corner like temporary tattoos and coloring.

One of the day's highlights was the Arabesque photo booth where visitors dressed in traditional Egyptian costumes and captured beautiful memories. Egyptian vendors added sparkle to the event with authentic food, fashion, crafts, and artwork.

For the first time ever, three Egyptian authors hosted live book readings for kids and adults, sharing their literary works that bridge cultures and generations — a unique and unforgettable experience.

Visitors also toured the historic Bureau building, where two rooms were transformed into immersive exhibitions:
Room One: Ancient Egypt Room with artefacts from various dynasties
Room Two: "Egypt Through the Lens" Gallery showcasing iconic people and places.

Though the event was scheduled to end at 5 PM, many guests simply didn’t want to leave — a testament to the joy, warmth, and inspiration Egypt offered that day.

The energy soared with live folkloric dancing, Egyptian music, and performances by talented Egyptian youth, whose singing, playing, and dancing added beauty and pride to the celebration.

All activities were planned and managed by the Egyptian Cultural and Educational Attaché and Director of the Bureau, Dr. Nirmeen Sabry in great collaboration with the Egyptian Embassy and a group of dedicated Egyptian women from the community. The day was brought to life by the passion of Egypt’s younger generation, whose love and belonging to their homeland were truly touching.

We proudly brought Egypt to Washington, and we warmly invite everyone to now go visit Egypt itself — a land of history and endless magic.
