On August 13, 2026, the Egyptian Cultural and Educational Bureau (ECEB) facilitated a collaborative meeting between the **Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University, and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) to explore potential areas of academic and research cooperation.
The Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University, was represented by Prof. Ahmed El-Shafie, Dean of the Faculty; Prof. Samah Abbass, Vice Dean; and Prof. Mona Murad, International Relations, while UNMC was represented by Dr. Christopher Shaffer, School of Pharmacy, and Dr. Wael E. ElRayes, Health Services Research & Administration (HSRA - UNMC).
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss potential avenues for collaboration, including academic and research cooperation, faculty and student engagement, postgraduate education and training, and opportunities for developing joint initiatives that capitalize on the expertise and strengths of both institutions.
The discussion represents an important step toward establishing sustainable institutional cooperation between Cairo University and UNMC and expanding academic and research connections between Egypt and the United States.
في ١٣ أغسطس ٢٠٢٦، قام المكتب الثقافي والتعليمي المصري بواشنطن بتنسيق اجتماع تعاوني بين كلية الصيدلة – جامعة القاهرة وكلية الصيدلة بالمركز الطبي بجامعة نبراسكا (UNMC)، بهدف بحث فرص ومجالات التعاون الأكاديمي والبحثي بين الجانبين.
شارك من كلية الصيدلة – جامعة القاهرة كل من الأستاذ الدكتور أحمد الشافعي، عميد الكلية؛ والأستاذة الدكتورة سماح عباس، وكيل الكلية؛ والأستاذة الدكتورة منى مراد، ممثلة العلاقات الدولية. كما شارك من جامعة نبراسكا الطبية الدكتور كريستوفر شافيير من كلية الصيدلة، والدكتور وائل الريس من قسم أبحاث وإدارة الخدمات الصحية .
تناول الاجتماع عددًا من المسارات المحتملة للتعاون، من بينها التعاون الأكاديمي والبحثي، ومشاركة أعضاء هيئة التدريس والطلاب، والدراسات العليا والتدريب، وإمكانية تطوير مبادرات وبرامج مشتركة تستفيد من الخبرات والإمكانات المتميزة لدى المؤسستين.
ويمثل هذا اللقاء خطوة مهمة نحو بناء تعاون مؤسسي مستدام بين جامعة القاهرة وجامعة نبراسكا الطبية، وتعزيز الروابط الأكاديمية والبحثية بين مصر والولايات المتحدة.
ويتطلع المكتب الثقافي والتعليمي المصري إلى دعم الخطوات القادمة ومواصلة التنسيق بين الجانبين لتحويل هذه المناقشات إلى مبادرات تعاون عملية وملموسة.
